User Experience Research

In the industry, user experience research, also abbreviated as UXR, is a fundamental discipline that aims to understand what users experience during their interaction with a product/machine. User Experience was first used during World War II as a term to describe communication between humans and machines.  Whether digital or traditional, the outputs of human-machine interaction on the human side form the basis of this discipline.

Today, it can be defined as one of the core processes used to understand the behaviors that emerge during the use of a product and to base design decisions on concrete data. Every observation made reveals the decision-making speed of users, their transitions between screens, and the difficulties they encounter while completing a function. Research at Pikap is positioned as a structural step where insights that guide the direction of design are produced. How users approach the product, how much time they spend on certain information, and which preferences they make during a flow are understood through these data.

Interviews, usability tests, behavior analyses, and measurable task scenarios produce clear results about which areas the product will accelerate, where it will be simplified, and which points need to be reconsidered. This structure both accelerates the design process and keeps development costs under control.

This page will later explain in more detail the research methods, how we interpret the outputs, and how we communicate these insights in product development processes. Currently, we are only sharing the foundation of our approach. If you want to see how the design decisions of the research are practically implemented, you can look at how flows are simply organized in our web projects; in mobile app designs, how behavior-intensive screens are optimized. As the content develops, the impact of this process on the product will become more visible.
